This is the eighth installment in my series about the differences between the eBay and Amazon selling platforms. For each of the next six weeks I will continue to discuss these areas and try to dispel some of the myths that surround selling on Amazon.com
I asked veteran Amazon sellers via Facebook what differences they found between selling on eBay and Amazon FBA. There were ten areas identified as noticeably different between the two platforms:
- What You Can Sell
- The Rules
- Listing
- Fees
- Customer Service
- Getting Paid
- Vacation
- Control
- Sales Tax
- Profit Potential
"Growing a business means growing inventory, growing sales, and finally, growing a team. But teamwork doesn’t come naturally; it requires delegation." teikametrics.com
I think that this is a hard hurdle for many sellers branching over from eBay to Amazon. On eBay you have complete control of the customer experience from listing, to shipping and customer interaction. Trusting someone else to handle the packing/shipping and customer service is hard.
One of the ways to grow a business is to delegate tasks so that you can focus your efforts and the parts you enjoy that help grow the business and bottom line. Do you enjoy all of that shipping each week? Do you like to handle the problem customers? Remember, Amazon is a well oiled machine in the business to make the buyer happy. Why not hand off some of your least favorite tasks to them?
"Amazon has created one of the most advanced fulfillment networks in the world, and your business can benefit from [their] expertise." Amazon.com
If you are considering branching out into utilizing Amazon FBA but are still on the fence, then sit down and spend 20 minutes coming up with a list of pros and cons. This will help you to better understand what is stopping you from moving forward. Come back and share what you found so I can help you get over the hurdles.
